Skin Needling Sydney

Skin needling, also known as microneedling, is a treatment that stimulates the skin to renew itself. At Verve we use the eDermaStamp, a stamping device that increases skin stimulation to encourage new collagen.
Skin needling can significantly improve the appearance of wrinkles, sun damage and other signs of ageing skin, as well as acne scars and stretch marks.
Skin needling is often used to help with:

  • Wrinkles and other signs of ageing skin
  • Sun damage
  • Acne scars and stretch marks

What Happens During the Skin Needling Procedure?

The procedure takes around 30 minutes. We use the eDermaStamp, a stamping device that increases stimulation of the skin. For general collagen rejuvenation, skin needling is usually done as a course of four to six sessions spaced about four weeks apart. For scar reduction, more than six sessions are generally needed. We will confirm the right number of sessions for your skin at your consultation.

Does the Skin Needling Procedure Hurt?

There is minimal discomfort during skin needling, with most people feeling a slight scratching sensation as the device moves across the skin.

Are There Any Side Effects from Skin Needling?

Immediately after treatment your skin will look and feel a little like mild sunburn, with some redness that usually subsides within one to two hours. Visible improvements generally appear within about six weeks, and your skin continues to improve over the following six to twelve months as new collagen forms.

Is There Any Downtime with Skin Needling?

Downtime is minimal, and most people take approximately two days off work before returning to their normal routine.

Who Is a Suitable Candidate for Skin Needling?

Skin needling suits people noticing the ageing effects on their skin, or those with scarring they would like to improve. As with any treatment, it is not right for every skin, so Dr Nasser will assess your skin at your consultation and confirm whether skin needling is the best option for you, or suggest an alternative.

What Is the Difference Between Dermaroller and eDermaStamp?

Dermaroller and eDermaStamp are both skin-needling devices, but they work differently. A Dermaroller is a hand-held roller covered in fine needles that is rolled across the skin. The eDermaStamp is an electronically powered device that stamps the needles into the skin vertically, which allows for more controlled, consistent treatment and makes it easier to work around the contours of the face. At Verve we use the eDermaStamp for this reason.

It suits most people wanting to improve ageing skin or scarring, but it is not right for every skin, including active breakouts or certain skin conditions. Dr Nasser assesses your skin first to make sure it is a good fit.

The cost depends on the area treated and the number of sessions you need, so we confirm it for you at your consultation.

We generally recommend leaving the skin bare for a short period after treatment while the redness settles, and we will give you clear aftercare advice on when it is fine to return to makeup and your usual products.
