Fine Lines & Wrinkles Sydney

Lines form for a mix of reasons. Skin loses collagen and elasticity with age, sun exposure over the years accelerates it, and repeated facial movement gradually sets creases into the skin. Genetics, smoking and sleep position also all play a part.

Because lines have different causes, they respond to different treatments. The starting point is an assessment of your skin.

We see people about:

  • Fine surface lines
  • Sun damage and loss of skin quality
  • Early loss of firmness around the eyes, mouth and neck

Why Lines Form

Collagen and elastin give skin its firmness and its ability to spring back. Both decline with age, and ultraviolet exposure breaks them down faster, which is why lines usually appear first and deepest on the areas most exposed to the sun. At the same time the skin holds less water and the fat and bone beneath the face change shape, so the surface has less support. Repeated movement then folds the skin in the same places until the crease persists at rest.

Treatments That Address Skin Quality and Texture

Several of the treatments we offer work on the condition of the skin itself, building collagen and improving texture and tone. These suit fine lines, crepiness and sun-damaged skin.

Where the concern is laxity and loss of support rather than surface texture, energy-based and structural treatments are generally more. Our team will be able to best advise the ideal treatment for you.

What a Consultation Covers

Your skin is assessed in person: the type and depth of the lines, the condition of the skin around them, how much laxity there is, and what you want to change. Our team will explain which treatments are appropriate for your situation, what each can realistically achieve, what it costs, and what the alternatives are. Where a treatment is not going to give you what you are after, you will be told that.

Some treatment options can only be discussed in a consultation rather than described on a website. That is a requirement of Australian advertising law rather than a matter of preference, and it applies to every clinic.

What Helps Between Treatments

Daily sun protection does more for fine lines over a decade than most treatments do in a year, and it protects the results of anything else you have done. A considered skincare routine, not smoking, and managing sun exposure all matter. Your doctor can advise on what to use for your skin.

Individual results vary from person to person. What is realistic for you is assessed at your consultation.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

It depends on whether the concern is surface texture, skin quality or loss of firmness, and on the depth of the lines. That is what the assessment establishes, and it is why the same treatment is not recommended to everyone.

Most of the treatments that work on skin quality need a course rather than a single session, and the change builds over weeks to months. Your plan is set at your consultation.

No. These treatments soften the appearance of lines and improve the condition of the skin. Deeper creases set into the skin over decades will not disappear, and anyone who tells you otherwise is overselling.

There is no set age. Sun protection counts from childhood onwards. Beyond that, consider treatment when something is bothering you, not on a schedule.

Australian law restricts how some treatments can be described in advertising. Your doctor can discuss anything clinically appropriate for you in a consultation.
