Treatment for excessive sweating at Verve Cosmetic Clinic. Speak with our team about reducing hyperhidrosis so it interferes less with your day.

Hyperhidrosis – Excessive Sweating Sydney

Everyone sweats, but for some people the body produces far more than it needs to. This is called hyperhidrosis, and it is more common than many realise, affecting an estimated two to three per cent of Australians.

Excessive sweating can be generalised across the body, or focused on specific areas such as the underarms, hands, feet or face. Wherever it happens, it can be genuinely difficult to live with, affecting daily activities, work, social situations, confidence and relationships. At Verve, we offer a non-surgical treatment that can reduce excessive sweating so it interferes less with your day.

Treatment can help with excessive sweating of the:

  • Underarms
  • Hands and feet
  • Face and other localised areas

What Is Hyperhidrosis?

Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for sweating more than the body needs to regulate its temperature. For some people it affects the whole body, while for others it is localised to particular areas like the hands, feet, underarms or face. It is not dangerous in itself, but it can have a real impact on everyday life, from what you feel comfortable wearing to how you feel in social and work situations. Many people live with it for years before seeking treatment.

How Is Hyperhidrosis Treated?

Verve offers a non-surgical treatment for excessive sweating. It involves a series of small injections into the affected area using a fine needle, and works by temporarily reducing the nerve signals that switch on the sweat glands, which lowers how much you sweat in that area. The treatment takes around 30 minutes from start to finish, and a local anaesthetic can be applied beforehand to keep the area comfortable. Your doctor will explain the treatment fully and confirm it suits you at your consultation.

Side Effects and Downtime

The treatment is generally well tolerated. Afterwards you may notice minor swelling, small bruises or, occasionally, some temporary numbness of the skin, which usually settles within around 48 hours. Downtime is minimal, and most people return to their normal routine straight away.

How Long Do the Results Last?

Results are not permanent, but excessive sweating can typically be reduced for around six to twelve months before the treatment needs repeating. Because this varies from person to person, we will talk through what to expect and when a follow-up might be due at your consultation.

Who Is the Treatment For?

This treatment is best suited to people whose excessive sweating has started to interfere with their daily life. As with any medical treatment, it is not right for everyone, so Dr Nasser will assess your situation, discuss your options and confirm whether it is appropriate for you.
