Sclerotherapy is a treatment for unwanted veins on the surface of the skin. A fine needle is used to inject a sclerosing solution into the vein, which causes it to collapse and fade over time. Your body then gradually absorbs the treated vein, while the surrounding healthy veins are left to do their job.
It is most often used on the legs to treat spider veins, known medically as telangiectasia, and smaller varicose veins. As well as their appearance, these veins can bring symptoms such as aching, burning and swelling, and sclerotherapy can help with both.
