Blepharoplasty and Upper Facial Rejuvenation

Blepharoplasty and Upper Facial Rejuvenation

Eyelid surgery (eyelid lift) or blepharoplasty, is a type of cosmetic surgery that alters the appearance of the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. The aim is to improve the appearance of the area surrounding the eyes.

Droopy, puffy or baggy eyelids?
Droopy, puffy, or baggy eyelids can create a heavy looking eyelid, aged appearance, and sometimes block vision. These changes usually develop as a result of familial tendencies, allergies, sun damage, or ageing. The drooping skin and puffy fat deposits can be removed or repositioned in this procedure.

Upper eyelid surgery
In upper eyelid surgery Dr Nasser removes the excess skin and fatty tissue if needed through a delicate incision in the natural upper eyelid crease. This restores a youthful and rested appearance to the eyes of both men and women. Lower eyelid surgery is performed to remove excess skin, reduce wrinkles, and improve the shape of the lower eyelid by removing skin and fat. Sometimes tightening the eyelid is needed to correct droopiness or sagging.

Benefits of eyelid surgery

The desired outcome for most patients that present for eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) cannot be addressed by surgery alone.   At Verve Cosmetic Clinic we are increasingly combining non-surgical skin treatments with a blepharoplasty to maximise the patients’ results.  The surgical procedure can remove excess skin muscle and fat and in addition, Dr Nasser performs laser treatments of the area to smooth and tighten skin and encourage collagen growth (some patients choose to have their entire face treated at the same time). This can be combined with muscle relaxant injections to weaken the muscle under the skin to deter new wrinkles forming as well as filler injections to reduce the hollowing effect from volume loss that occurs as we age.  By combining these procedures this narrows the window of down time patients would normally experience if they chose to undergo the procedures on separate occasions.

With most cosmetic surgical procedures ‘less is more’, a philosophy Dr Nasser strictly follows. This was reinforced by all the international and national surgeons that presented at the Masters Symposium with special emphasis on Blepharoplasty and Upper Facial Rejuvenation conducted by AAFPS held this month and attended by Dr Nasser.  The process of combing surgical and non-surgical procedures achieve results that are less obvious with the area appearing naturally refreshed and rejuvenated.
